Kanban is a Japanese methodology for managing production as part of Just in time (JIT) and Lean Manufacturing. Part of the system controls what quantity of goods are produced, and when. The main component of JIT manufacturing pertains to the pull system. The pull system dictates that goods should only be produced when customers demand it. At BJC, we mostly always manufacture to a JIT delivery plan. Meaning, your wire requirements are custom made, not standard on the shelve solutions.

Once a customer places an order and all the components are received, our manufacturing process begins. BJC’s wire harness experts will work on your design specifications with the delivery date in mind. The order will then be ship directly to the customer ensuring, that it is received on or before the requested date.

Benefits JIT manufacturing

Despite originating from Japan, JIT manufacturing provides many benefits to the New Zealand wire harnessing industry. Some of which include:

  • Less storage space required
  • Faster response times
  • Increased flexibility
  • Less wastage of materials

Although BJC generally follows the JIT manufacturing process, we are more than happy to accommodate our customers. We understand our customer’s requirements can change from week to week or month to month. In such cases, we can hold inventory for our customers and ship directly when it is required.
